SITUATION:
A potential issue has been identified on certain Land Rover vehicles within the listed AffectedVehicle Range where, due to insufficient contact of the battery ground stud to the chassis,the vehicle may exhibit various electrical faults. The vehicle could cut out while in motion,may lose all electrical power and lighting without warning to the driver. and could lead to anincreased risk of an accident.
ACTION:
Retailers are required to HOLD affected new vehicles that are within your control and refrainfrom releasing the vehicles for new vehicle sale pending completion of the procedure(s)detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Unsold vehicles should have this performed as part of the
Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI)
process but must have it completed prior to vehicle handover tothe customer.

Warranty claims should be submitted in accordance with the current
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
Global Warranty Compliance and Procedures Manual, and its amendments, unless statedotherwise in this bulletin.
If a customer has indicated that they have already paid for this concern as a normal retailrepair (vehicle outside warranty period), a copy of the repair invoice must be produced asproof of the repair. The retailer must directly reimburse the customer and a claim for recoveryof this cost should be made using the related damage procedure.

Open the tailgate. 1.
Remove the right loadspace trim panel (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-05:Interior Trim and Ornamentation – Removal and Installation – Right Loadspace TrimPanel).

Disconnect the startup battery ground cable (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section414-00: Battery and Charging System – General Information – Specifications).

Using 2 pairs of suitable pliers, carefully straighten the startup battery ground cablelocating tab, making sure the eyelet is held securely so the surface remains levelwhile the locating tab is straightened.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of its intent to perform a Safety Recall on certain Land Rover vehicles imported into the United States market. Information relating to this Recall will be posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
United States Federal regulations require that retailers must be notified within a reasonable time after the manufacturer decides that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety or a noncompliance exists.
United States Federal law requires retailers to complete any outstanding Recall service before a new vehicle is delivered to the buyer or lessee. Violation of this requirement by a retailer could result in a maximum civil penalty of up to $22,992.00 per violation and $114,954,525.00 for a related series of violations.
This Aftersales Bulletin serves as notification to all Land Rover retailers in the United States and Federalized Territories that any affected new vehicles may not be sold and delivered for customer use until the Recall repair is completed.

DESCRIPTION OF DEFECT

Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized Land Rover retailer who will update the vehicle software to the correct specification. There will be no charge to owners for this action under this Program.
Unsold vehicles must have this done as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process and/or before vehicle handover to the customer.
OWNER NOTIFICATION
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized retailer who will replace the ground stud with an aftermarket specification part. There will be no charge to owners for this action under this Program.
Unsold vehicles must have this done as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process and/or before vehicle handover to the customer.
OWNER NOTIFICATION
Owner notification is expected to occur on or before August 13, 2021.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
Check the Jaguar Land Rover claims submission system to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this Program prior to undertaking any rework action.
