‘Squeal’ Noise From Rear Brakes – 380mm Brake Discs

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation: A ‘squeal’ noise from the rear brakes may be evident at slow speed as the vehicle is coming to a stop.

Cause: This may be caused by noise generated from the contact points of the brake caliper and pads.

Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.

NOTE: Normal Warranty procedures apply.

 

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:

NOTE: The following steps must be completed on both sides of the vehicle.1. Remove the rear left-hand brake pads (see TOPIx Workshop Manual Section 206-04A: Rear Disc Brake – Vehicles Without: Carbon Ceramic BrakesBrake Pads).

2. NOTE: Do not apply excessive amounts of grease to the areas shown.

Using a suitable brake cleaner, clean the rear surface of the brake pads and apply the supplied grease to the areas shown.

3. Using a suitable brake cleaner, clean the brake caliper piston and apply the supplied grease in the area shown.

4. Using a suitable brake cleaner, clean the brake caliper carrier and apply the supplied grease to the areas shown.

5. Install the rear left-hand brake pads (see TOPIx Workshop Manual, section 206-04A: Rear Disc Brake – Vehicles Without: Carbon Ceramic BrakesBrake Pads).

6. Repeat steps 1-5 on the rear right-hand brake pads.

7. Confirm the rear brake squeal noise is no longer evident.
