06-MAR-18 | NO.: SRE18-03 (ISSUE 2) | SEC.: RECALL | MKT.: USA |
Jaguar Land Rover
North America, LLC has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA) of its intent to perform a Safety Recall on certain 2018 model year Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar vehicles imported into the United States market. United States Federal regulations require that retailers must be notified within a reasonable time after the manufacturer decides that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety or a noncompliance exists.
United States Federal law requires retailers to complete any outstanding safety Recall service before a new vehicle is delivered to the buyer or lessee. Violation of this requirement by a retailer could result in a civil penalty of up to $21,000.00 per vehicle.
This Recall Service Bulletin serves as notification to all Land Rover retailers in the United States and Federalized Territories that any affected new vehicles may not be sold and delivered for customer use until the Recall repair is completed.
CHANGES ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN BLUE |
DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE
An issue has been identified on a limited number of vehicles within the listed Affected Vehicle Range for an underhood gasoline fuel leak. The brazing of the fuel rail end caps is inconsistent and may not provide the design condition, so not sealing the fuel rail ends. Fuel vapor and liquid fuel leaks can occur over time. This can lead to a liquid fuel leak into the engine bay.

A total of 8,211 vehicles are potentially involved in the USA and Federalized Territories. Go to the Land Rover InfoTrail website for a list of affected unsold (as of 07 February 2018) vehicles.
EFFECT ON VEHICLE OPERATION
Fuel odor may be noticed by the driver and they may also observe liquid fuel if the hood is lifted. Should leaking fuel come into contact with a sufficiently hot surface, there is an increased risk of fire.
SERVICE PROGRAM / REWORK ACTION
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized retailer who will replace the fuel rail. There will be no charge to owners for this action.
OWNER NOTIFICATION
Owner notification is expected to occur on or before 23 March 2018.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
Use the Jaguar Land Rover
claims submission system to ensure that the vehicle is affected by Program Code ‘N138’ prior to undertaking any rework action.
Retailers are required to HOLD affected new vehicles that are within your control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action. Sold vehicles will be subject to the standard Recall notification and Recall bulletin process detailing the action required for vehicles in the hands of owners. Customers may continue to drive their vehicles and there is no requirement for retailers to take any action on customer-owned vehicles until the repair is published.
A Technical Bulletin will be published once repair instructions are finalized and any required parts have been procured. This is currently expected to be available by the week of 12 March 2018.
If, prior to the publication of a Technical Bulletin, a vehicle is diagnosed with a fuel rail leak, retailers are requested to submit an EPQR attaching a short video showing the exact location of the leak
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Jaguar Land Rover
North America apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

- 【Test 2 Injectors Simultaneously】Fuel injector cleaner tester can help you diagnose and clean injectors, easily identify common faults such as stuck, blocked, leaked or burnt-out conditions of the fuel injector. Compared with other fuel injector cleaner and tester with only one pair of pulse output teminals(black&red test lead), our fuel injector tester has 2 pulse output teminals(two pairs of test leads), which can test two fuel injectors at the same time for comparison.
- 【8 Pulse Modes & Mode Lock Feature & LCD Display】The fuel injector tester kit is designed with LCD display and 8 pulse modes, which composed of 4 pulse signal output modes and 2 output voltage levels: Short/ Medium/ Long/ Continuous pulse modes + High/Low(12V/5V) power drive modes. This fuel injector cleaning machine can help you to identify good and bad injectors when the engine is off. You can choose any mode as your needs. And its mode lock feature ensures test condition uniformity.
- 【4 Size Adapters & Wide Compatibility】Our injector cleaner is compatible for 12V injectors of almost all vehicle models, for both EFI and GDI injectors. It comes with a large and a small size universal adapters compatible for injectors of most models(except for Audi BMW), so we newly add 2 adapters to expand its compatibility: a medium size adapter for Audi, VW, etc. and another one with threaded hole is exclusively for BMW N series such as N14/N18/N20/N26/N53/N54/N55/N63/S63.
- 【40inch Power Cord & 20inch Test Lead】The length of power cord is up to 40inch/100cm and its test lead is 20 inches, which is more convenient for you to connect and use. The wires are made of superior silica gel, which has better high and low temperature resistance. Fuel injector cleaning kit is powered by 12V battery or an external DC 12V (recommended at least 1.5A) power adapter. It works with engine off and can work with any fuel pressure tester(NOTE: Gasoline car only, NOT the diesel engine).
- 【Polarity Reverse Connection Protection & Short Circuit Protection】This fuel injector cleaner and tester is deigned with power input reverse connection protection and output short circuit protection function. In the case of a damaged fuel injector or a short circuit of the pulse output terminal, the power indicator light of the fuel injector cleaner tool will flash to prompt you.
- DESIGNED TO EXCEED EXPECTATIONS: Red Line complete SI-1 fuel system cleaner treatment for cleaning and preventing corrosion in fuel systems
- PERFORM AND PROTECT: Fuel additive cleans injectors, carburetors, valve and combustion chamber deposits with a powerful, concentrated blend of high-temp and low-temp detergents
- EFFICIENT FUEL BURN: Gas treatment that enhances gasoline stability, while reducing the build up of gum and varnish formation
- EASY TO USE: Use one bottle per tank for most effective treatment, additive cleans nearly 100% efficiency in one treatment
- One 15 Ounce Bottle
- Increases power and miles per gallon by burning excess exhaust emissions
- Increases the life of pumps and injectors
- Cleans and lubricates the fuel system
- Neutralizes low sulfur fuel problems
